Why do I need a Care Plan?

While WordPress is by far the most ubiquitous and well supported content management system in the world by a factor of ten, this also means it is often a target for malicious activity. For more information on why your site may be a target without you realising it, check out our blog post here.

Malware removal can be a very expensive process – not to mention the potential for lost data or compromised information. Our care plans provide peace of mind by making sure your site stays squeaky clean, as well as running fast. You also have on demand support, and access to lots of perks like our custom (regularly updated) video tutorials, email campaign software, and high performance hosting with automated SSL.

What do you mean when you say “Content” ?

In short, “content” refers to any blocks of text or media used on your website. Things that are not included in “content” are button labels, headings and theme graphics that are part of the overall design. We don’t include content as part of our initial proposals as the requirements for each project can differ wildly. We are able to provide stock photography for you from our massive licensed stock library, or we can liaise with our preferred providers for content writing, photography, videography and illustrations if required. If you would like a formal quote, we can provide this after the discovery phase is completed.

Until content is provided, we will use “Lorem Ipsum” text to fill the spaces where text will go. We may use stock photography from our own proprietary library to temporarily populate your site until you are able to provide your own content.

What if I have a sweet idea for an additional feature?

Whilst we like to be flexible and responsive to your needs, we also like to deliver what we promise within the time frames and budgets we have allowed. If you ask us to add new features to your website while we are building it, we will most likely ask, “Why?”

If we all agree that your new request will help us achieve our objectives then we will be more than happy to oblige. If your new feature is something you would like to add to your website but is not directly tied to your original objectives then we will suggest to schedule it for a second iteration of the website once it has been launched. This will require a new proposal.

If your site is already live and you are looking to have additional work completed on it, we can either provide a fixed price quote (if the work is substantial) or you can purchase block hours that can be used towards additional design or development work.

What happens after we launch?

We provide 30 days of support, regardless of whether you are on a care plan, to make sure all bugs are ironed out and that you are confident using your new site. After this, you will need to subscribe to a care plan to make sure your site is looked after and maintained or take on the responsibility of doing this yourself. Our care plans include things like hosting, updates, regular backups, security checks and uptime monitoring and are extremely good value for money!

If you choose not to go on a care plan, we will provide you with some basic training on best practice website maintenance, but any additional support will be charged at our standard hourly rate.

Who do I call if something goes wrong?

If you are on a care plan – us! You can also hit us up any time of the day or night via our live chat and we’ll probably answer, because we don’t sleep very often… Seriously though, we are here to help you. We also provide lots of training and video tutorials for you once your site is launched. If you aren’t on a care plan but an emergency arises and you have built your website with us, we may be able to assist – but please note that support for non-care plan clients is dependent on availability and may incur additional costs. Check out these links for more information about our standard rates and the benefits of care plans.

Who maintains my website after launch?

If you are on a care plan, we do! We take care of everything from plugin updates to security scans, backups and hosting. We don’t create content – so if you are looking for someone to help you with creating blog posts or case studies, we recommend chatting with our delightful copywriting partner Cindy from Hats Off Copywriting.
