Website Migration Pack

We’re often asked to assist with migrating a website between different hosting providers (including our own). Moving a website to new hosting can often be a tedious process. There are a lot of moving parts and inconsistencies between hosting environments can often lead to challenges that need to be overcome quickly to keep your website up and running.

We are pleased to offer this as a stand alone packaged service. This service will move your website to destination hosting and keep it looking identical to how it currently looks! The following is what is included in our standard website migration service:

Transfer of Website Files

We’ll transfer all the content of your website across to the destination hosting. This includes the WordPress Core installation, all Plugins, Themes and User generated content.

Transfer of Website Database

WordPress is dependent upon a fairly hefty database which stores a lot of the content of the website. When migrating a website, moving the database is a requirement for it to continue operating. We take care of all of the heavy lifting on this front, including making sure your website knows where to find your database.

Website SSL Certificates

Any good hosting these days should include free SSL certificates. It’s great that they are included, however something that is super important is ensuring that they are used 100% of the time on your website. WordPress typically doesn’t do this out of the box. We’ll configure your new hosting to ensure that this definitely takes place.

Hosting Environment Fine Tuning

There are a number of things that can sometimes cause WordPress (and various plugins) to not operate optimally in some hosting environments. We’re on top of these common problems and will address them in your new hosting environment if necessary.

We have a proceduralised checklist for conducting migrations to ensure that the process from start to end goes as smoothly as possible and minimises any downtime of your website (or related services such as email). Having a plan in place and a detailed timeline of the process ensures that nothing gets forgotten and gives you 100% peace of mind.

DNS Migration (if applicable)

As part of some migrations, it may make sense to also migrate your DNS hosting. This doesn’t always need to be moved, depending upon whether you have other providers/vendors in the picture (such as an IT Support Provider managing your email), but when it does need to be migrated, we’ll assist you with this process to ensure it goes smoothly.

Third Party Backups During Migration

We have a number of systems and processes in place which take various backups of your website throughout the process to ensure that your website is not lost in the ether during the migration process.

Performance Speed Tests

Once everything is complete, and you’re up and running on the new hosting, we’ll perform speed tests and analyse performance metrics to ensure that your website is operating as it should in the new environment.
