Usability Testing – Single Round

What the Base Package Includes:

Gain essential insights into your user experience with one round of usability testing. Perfect for teams looking for clear, actionable feedback without the bells and whistles.

What’s Included:

• Custom Task Creation: I will craft specific testing activities based on the research questions you provide, ensuring we focus on what matters most to your project and get unbiased data.
• 5 Facilitated Usability Tests: I’ll conduct five individual usability tests, either on desktop, mobile, or a combination, depending on your needs. Each session will be recorded, and made available to you afterwards.
• Comprehensive Feedback Collation: Receive a detailed summary of all feedback, including direct links to each individual test recording. The report will highlight key findings, obvious problem areas, and user sentiment.

FAQs

What time commitment do you require from us?

All I require from you is to complete the onboarding questionnaire. I’ll take care of everything else, and you’ll be provided with both recordings and transcripts of the testing sessions if you want to peruse them yourself in your own time.

Can we provide you with the tasks we want to get people to do?

You can provide suggestions, but I might suggest some tweaks to ensure that they follow the best practices for UX research while still achieving the goal you’re aiming for.

Who are the usability testers? Do we need to pay them?

That will depend on your project. If you are eligible for our Mission Digital program, we’ll be able to assist with recruitment from our pool of volunteers. If you are not eligible for Mission Digital, then the generally recommended rate for usability testing in Australia is $100AUD per user. Keep in mind that if you specifically need to target high-level professionals (such as doctors or lawyers) you’ll probably be looking at a higher cost per user. If you have a service or product that would be of interest to the users, you could also offer a non-monetary incentive that would be sufficiently appealing. Remember – you’re asking participants to give up ~90mins of their time to do something that isn’t their job – so paying them for it is often necessary.

Can I get a discount?

The first time you try to conduct usability testing of a website, it will take you (on average) a total of 39 hours. While experience means it will take me much less than that, it’s still a big time commitment that I can’t outsource to anyone else. I’m also really good at it!

Having said that – if you are eligible for the Mission Digital program, you can get a 20% discount on all House Digital packages.
